Almost Done

Didn't know about this one? If you remember, because you've all been guests at our house, (ahem, I mean you're invited any time), we had a nice, big deck off of the master bedroom. It was attached to a nice, big pergola. The word "nice" in the previous two sentences was completely untrue, however, because the deck and the pergola were both rickety and ready to fall down. Add to that the fact that we have a two story house, with two doors on the upper floor, and no way to exit in the case of a fire (or an early morning meeting without waking the kids...but I digress). So, we tore down the old deck and pergola, which equated about one half hour worth of work, and Shane built a new deck, with stairs, which has been a lot more than one half hour worth of work.

See, we don't need a big deck off of the master bedroom, because the only view we have is of our neighbors yards (like six neighbors' yards to be specific) and we're not really the peeping tom kind, so rather than have a big deck that is creepy we now have a slightly small deck and a way to get out of our house on the upper level.

the deck without stairs

the pile of junk

the deck, with stairs

the stairs, which by the way are incredibly hard to build, no kidding...

the stairs again, because seriously, they were really, really hard to build

Just Getting Started

'Tis the season, and we finally have the Christmas tree up. Now, if anyone wants to volunteer to decorate the house, say the outside of the house, we're taking names. I mean, we've been told it's a perfect house to decorate for the holidays...what do you think?

Oh Brooke - you are a busy gal! We'd still get along so well if we were neighbors. Move back to Utah and be my bff. Good job on the grades. The deck, however, is what I'm really in awe over. Come on up and help us redo Monica's. Fun summer vacation eh?

I can only imagine how hard stairs would be. Im sad its not so big anymore though. Now we cant sit outside and watch all the neighbors. Oh, well.
Our house has lights around a window. That counts right?

Love, love, love, the fake decorations. You are hilarious! Wow, you guys are ambitious and the stairs look amazing though it sounds like it was not a fun project although if anyone could do it, you guys could!! Way to go! Have a great Christmas! By the way, I still haven't shopped much for the babies and looking for some ideas! What are you getting yours???

You guys are so industrious! And I think second story decks are completely stupid, unless of course you live far away from neighbors. Our lovely, useless second story deck looks out onto a street and 4 yards (one of which includes 2 ATVs, 2 RVs, a workshop and occasionally a truck). Not to mention if we're out on it we can be seen by anyone in the aforementioned locations, so it's not really a place I go to hang out and get away from it all. It just sits there and collects bird poop. Marvelous.

Your tree is beautiful, your deck looks fabulous, your grades are stellar. You're awesome. Who needs a decorated front yard anyway?!
