We spent Memorial day weekend with Clint and Karen in Houston. It was Clint's birthday weekend and we're so grateful we could spend some time with them. They obliged by letting us crash at their house, eat their great food, and taking us to see things that West Texans don't get to see, like water...
We spent Saturday at Surfside beach. It was perfect weather, just cool enough that none of us realized we were getting burned. The water was nice and warm, there was a great breeze and our kids were in heaven. We convinced Malea to come along for one last fun-filled weekend before she deserted us to Idaho. We gathered sea shells, saw people fishing for catfish, and apparently lucked out with no shark sightings, since this happened just a couple of days later at the same beach.
Our kids...and a few extras. Seriously, at church all seven kids were sitting with us and Shane looked down the row and started having seizures, I looked down the row and was amazed at how well they were all behaving. One 14 year old, one 11 year old, two 5 year olds, and three 3 year olds... Behind us, Clint and Karen were laughing with their one 9 month old.
Lyndon, poised and ready to take on the oncoming wave.
Landry enjoying the sun and the sand.
The water was warm, the waves were big. It was a perfect day! This may be the only picture I have of Lincoln and Malea in the water. They are the black dots in the upper left corner. They loved the surf and spent all their time further out than I was willing to take my camera. Apparently the reflection out there accelerates the sunburns, because they both got fried!
Landry and Cael, with their protector of waves and all things scary.
Cael and the seaweed. What more could a boy want?
