Today I feel both honored and ashamed. My priorities have been a little skewed lately, with other things like life, kids, errands, laundry, cooking, crocheting and Pinterest. Most of those are important, either for life or my sanity.
However, as the weather warmed up yesterday and today, and the sun came out to warm me up, I felt more normal and I was actually going to blog when what to my wondering email did appear, but a blogger spotlight from my friend Maria, and a challenge that was just what I needed to get my motivation going. So, without further delay (because there has been enough of that lately...)
Thank you Maria for ‘spotlighting’ Sunshine and Snows in Texas. If you, my readers, for some strange reason you have not visited Maria's blog, you are missing out. She writes about running, writing and diabetes, all of which she dabbles in (sorry, that was a bad joke...). She's an amazing person, who is smart and probably busier than anyone I know. Plus her kids have an awesome piano teacher (ahem...). Thanks for the shout out, Maria. I didn't deserve it, but I will willingly use it as motivation to get back in the blogging arena!
1. What are your favorite pizza toppings?
When we make homemade pizza, which is like a Friday night tradition, we always make an adult pizza with mushrooms, pineapple and ham. I know, some of you are retching right now, but I love it. The kids get pepperoni. I'm not jealous of them.
2. If you could swap lives with someone for a day, who would you choose and why?
Wow, ummm. No one? Seriously. As busy and chaotic as most of my days are, there is nothing better than getting hugged randomly throughout the day, kissing owies, making healthy food to help my kids grow, and kissing my husband at the end of a long 'work day'. Cheesy as that sounds, I can't think of anything better. Well, maybe if I could be a cheesecake tester for a day, but then they test to see if it tastes gross, and if it does then you'd be stuck with a pretty gross job for a day... Hmm, maybe a famous nature photographer, where I could travel for a day to take pictures of really cool things...as long as it wasn't bugs or alligators or spiders... Nah, I think I'll take my life.
3. Do you drink coffee?
No, but if I could have a coffee scented candle burning in my home all day every day, and not get ridiculed by all of my family and friends, I'd probably do it.
4. If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go?
With or without the kids? I would go anywhere with Shane, I think we need to be rich one day so we can travel. However, if the kids are part of the travel package we'd be going Disney anywhere. I can't imagine dragging four kids to museums and exhibits across Asia and Europe. In fact, I can't imagine standing in line with four kids at Disneyland either. Let's go to a warm beach somewhere, with warm sand, shade and a playground stocked with fruit snacks. Then everyone would be happy.
5. What was your favorite book as a child?
I'll Teach My Dog 100 Words, by Michael Frith. It was the one that proved to my mom I could read and I could read it upside down and backwards. Surprise!
6. If you were a color crayon, what color would you be?
White. Or black. Or brown. I'm like vanilla ice cream, I'm really plain. However, the question specifically says color crayon, which to some may indicate not a neutral 'color', so then I would pick teal.
7. Best thing of 2011?
Buying my last box of diapers and ridding my house of all baby clutter. (and a lot of other clutter too). Getting all my kids into big beds. Travelling safely to Utah twice, and Houston and Austin. It was a good year.
8. Are you an early bird or night owl?
Mid-day mama? Seriously I'm tired all day, regardless of what time I go to bed, but I despise mornings. I guess you'd have to call me a night owl who longs for an early bedtime.
9. Do you prefer a bath or a shower?
I love to soak in a hot bath, preferably with good smelling candles, a good book and no kids knocking on the door every 5 minutes. Alas, I usually get a 5 minutes shower interrupted by at least 2 children wondering if I will referee the latest wrestling match.
10. What is your favorite childhood memory?
Road trips with my mom. Particularly the trip up from Utah to Washington down the PCH to San Francisco across Nevada and back home. It was great. And I'm pretty sure I had the song "Turn the radio up for that sweet sound" in my head the entire time.
11. What do you want to be when you grow up?
Someone who can look back and be proud of what I've accomplished, by looking at my kids and seeing how good they've become. Someone who has learned much, loved much and laughed often. Someone my kids will be proud to call mom, and will be happy to have their kids call grandma. Someone who will leave this earth a better place because of my accomplishments, no matter how small, helped people to be happier.

Oh my gosh Brooke! This is so much fun. I feel so honored and weird, because my blog is pretty ghetto.
I think you're awesome because Disney is my dream vacay too. I'll have to think of my answers and post them on Monday!

How fun!! Love your answers!
Love this! I love learning more about you. My favorite answer you gave was for the question, what do you want to be when you grow up? I would answer much like that only not as elequent as you managed to record it! You are awesome and I appreciate your example! Oh, and DJ would love to have pizza night at your house just because of the ham, pineapple, and mushrooms...I on the other hand would hang out witht the kids with their pepperoni!:):)
