I know I've been absent again. I go in spurts and I am just trying to keep up. I've managed to be mostly a single mom these last three weeks, and while I'm proud to say we're all alive and doing well, it's harder to keep up with the little things, like blogging. Sorry.
I'll try to do better. And I'll try to catch up. 'Cause there is a lot to catch up on...we'll start Easter week and work around that, k?
We hit up the (or one of the) city wide Easter eggs hunts while Shane and Lincoln were on a campout. We actually got so loaded up with candy and treats from the vendors we didn't actually have to participate in the "hunt" which consisted of walking in a line of people along the grass, picking up stuffed eggs as you went.
The kids didn't mind that we skipped it.
We saw a fire truck...
Up close and personal...
Cael loved it. The girls tolerated it. Cael's going to be all sorts of excited when I break it to him that he gets to go to the actual fire station next week. Of course, I'm not telling him until we pack up into the car to leave. I tend to break good news to kids at the last possible moment, so I don't have to hear "Mom, when are we going?" 584,629 times in an hour.
Saturday night before Easter this storm blew in.
It looked nasty, and promised to be so...
Then skirted right around us. We almost enjoyed rain, hail, lightening and thunder.
And woke to a beautiful Easter Sunday. This was Cael right about the time he asked if he "could get a little help".
Landry and her basket.
Nannah and her basket.
Cael worshipping his basketful.
Savannah has been begging for a hair cut forever. She wanted layers and then she convinced herself she wanted a cut. She had SUPER long hair, and though I loved it long I knew it would grow again, so...
We chopped 8 inches off of it and made her look even more like Aunt Natalie. Seriously, if I didn't know Savannah had come out of me I'd believe Natalie was her mom. They look so much alike.
Landry had to get in on that action too, so we gave her some layers and trimmed her up a little.
And Cael just wanted a picture, his hair is exactly the way he likes it. Short enough to not get bed head. If he wakes up with bed head he'll start asking for a haircut. He gets that from Shane.
And the Spring String Festival. (Say that 5 times fast).
Lincoln's been participating in strings since the fall. They had one concert a few weeks into the program and it was all you'd expect from a 6th grade strings group that had been working only a few weeks. It was fun, extremely short but the kids were proud of themselves. The string festival consists of all the 6th grades string groups together, and the junior high strings groups together, and the high school strings groups together. and then the ENTIRE group (yes, elementary, junior and senior high) together.
It was awesome. Words can't really explain, and unfortunately the video I got wasn't that great either, but it rocked. The high school group ended their part with "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" and the directors played the parts with their instruments. One sang and played the violin and the other played the devil and played the bass. He did all sorts of stunts with his bass, I don't think the kids will ever forget it.
Lincoln and his cello (he's the one kind of sticking out in the middle...)

Did I ever tell you all that my wife is pretty awesome. Kid wrangler, mom, chef, blogger, knitter...uh, I mean crocheter...campout gear packer...and she puts up with me being out of town occasionally for work, this time longer than usual. My awesome wife, Brooke.
I agree with Shane! Fun to get an update and that Spring String Thing looks amazing! You would appreciate it. :)
