Buggin' Out

I was warned that everything is bigger here in Texas. Including the bugs. If you know me that's not comforting.

Then we moved here and I thought, "Gee, the bugs here are big, but they are very few and far between..."

And then 2012 hit. And for some reason, we have bugs. And they are BIG.

Like this...

Here's another view. Yes, it's a gigantic beetle, like at least 4 inches long. With really long antennae. And it's at my back door, knocking to come in. And it really freaked my kids out. Including Cael.

Then there is this one. I have seen two in my life. One in my house on Tuesday. One at the pool on Wednesday. If I never see another one it will be too soon.

I just did a bug finder and I think it's likely the Tarantula Hawk...

Not a comforting name. Not a comforting sight.

But we had fun playing with it anyway.
