We arrived in Utah during a gigantic onslaught of wildfires. I took these pictures a couple of days after we arrived, in the middle of the day...it looks like nighttime! It was so smoky for the first couple of days. They got most of the fires contained, then a few others started. Then it would rain and help to contain the new fires. It was so dry compared to normal, and there is so much to burn from their really wet year last year. Everyone was asking why Texas wasn't burning up. My only guess is that everything burned up last year, and we haven't really had the rain to re-grow anything this year, so there just isn't anything to burn!
PS, Lincoln and I are both allergic to smoke. It was fun. I actually ended up seeing my old doctor after I went running my first day in Utah and thought I was going to die of a cough. I'm blaming it on the thin, smoky air, not that I'm just out of shape...
