When you can be so afraid to go to the dentist that you may or may not cancel your appointment at least once before going, and only then go because you'd rather have your teeth checked than run the risk of getting a cavity or having to have something more than a cleaning done...
but have kids that absolutely look forward to going to the dentist and ask to go at least once a week.
