I Used To Think Nap Time Was Relaxing

You know, nap time used to be a time to get stuff done. I'd have approximately an hour and a half to clean up, do my chores, make my calls, send my emails, and possibly *gasp* relax...

Now I almost dread nap time. It means an hour and a half of the me taking the babies back to their beds, again and again and again and again and again....until they finally go to sleep.

I'm not kidding. It really takes that long 85% of the time.

In my mind I think of how many ways I could confine them to their beds and restrict their view of each other and then I count to 20 (because 10 just isn't long enough) and put them in their beds.

one. more. time. Which really equals 20 times. But who's counting?

School starts in 2 weeks, and if they're going to continue taking naps, I'm going to have to start the nap time routine at 10 a.m. so they'll get a long enough nap before we go get the older two.

What two year old takes a nap at 10 a.m.?

Do you see my dilemma?

Good, I thought maybe I was just losing my mind.

Been there.

I used to really dread putting my kids to bed. I tried lots of stuff and nothing worked well consistently.

So I have no advice. Not that you were asking. Just thought I'd let you know that I know how you feel. Did that make sense?

I feel your pain. Okay, technically I only feel 1/2 your pain since yours is double of mine!
I finally gave up on Jackson's nap last year. We just couldn't get the timing right and inevitably he would end up falling asleep right before it was time to get the kids and then he was even worse than he would be without a nap.
So, we switched to "quiet times" and he would usually be the first one to bed, but it just hasn't been the same since!
