Lincoln and Shane had the opportunity (?) to go to scout camp last week. I put the ? in there because it's just not something I would think of as fun. Though the weather was hot, and it was super dusty, and it was windy, and super hot, and there were lots of crazy boys, and it was hot, and they didn't feed them enough, and they almost melted in the shade (which didn't really exist) it seems that they had fun, returned unharmed and would go again. In a year.

Lincoln earned 4 1/2 merit badges. He got to ride horses, rock climb and rappel, swim and run around and wrestle in the dirt with boys his age. Seems that he loved it. He also learned annoying songs that he won't so much as whisper because they were so annoying, and apparently had to sing for his supper each night. Shane went along as the scoutmaster with his one scout and had fun too. He's determined to not only take an air mattress next year, but a portable a/c unit too.

The boys in the barn...

Lincoln on a horse. He went a couple of times, and actually earned a reward after one ride when they were going down some steep terrain and his horse tripped and nearly went down. He stayed on and earned an extra drink. I guess it was hot enough out there that that was a great prize.

The camp wildlife as documented by Shane. I would have seen this and been halfway home before the picture finished taking. He took time to take a half dozen shots...that's one difference between he and I. The other being that he went on a week long campout, willingly.

I think I would be right there with you in the car heading home if I saw that spider! It looked like fun though and the fact they have horses there is AWESOME!
