Here we are, two and a half weeks into our Texas adventure. I would love to say we have perfected a great routine and it's just working...but I can't lie. Every day is a new adventure; what time we arise (a couple of hours earlier than in Utah), who takes Lincoln to school (thank you Doyle!), what chaos Savannah will get into each day (dry erase marker comes off of wood and little girls...wood super glues back together...), what time the babies need to eat (think every meal time and when Savannah needs help).
Lincoln likes his school and is making friends. His biggest complaint about school is that the soccer fields at recess don't compare to Utah, so he's playing tag more than soccer. He's already gone on a field trip to the Petroleum Museum and has another one in a couple of weeks to another fun museum. His (our) biggest surprise has been trying to conquer cursive writing in a week; in Utah we hadn't even started and here they are almost through learning how to write the alphabet. Since leaving Utah he's read The Call of the Wild and is working on Tom Sawyer now. He gets to start Cub Scouts tomorrow, they are going to the fire station. Unfortunately we were a couple of weeks late for the pine wood derby, which gives us almost a year to perfect his car.
Shane likes his work so far. I told him that even if he hates it he has to come home with a smile on his face. He's stuck with this job until we become independantly wealthy, which I anticipate will be fairly soon as I'm starting to play the Texas lottery today...kidding, kind of.
Apparently our last ward was ready to get rid of us, not only did we have a huge turnout on moving day to get us packed and on the road, but when we were at church on Sunday our records were already down here, they couldn't get rid of us a moment too soon...or, our new ward was ready for fresh meat to torture. I've already been assigned as a visiting teacher and my visiting teachers are ready to come visit. What a change! Hopefully I can start making friends for me and the kids. We're feeling a little homesick and lonely.
I'll check back in later this week to update whether our schedules have evened out yet or not! (I'm thinking no, but it's an excuse to get on the computer and give an update...right?!?!)

Good luck with the Lotto and the schedule. Sounds like you might have equal luck with both of those!
It was so great to read your update. I have been thinking of you a lot and I am glad your are settling in and adjusting to your new routine. I am slowly coming to grips to another niece moving from the shadow of the everlasting hills. When I look at the mountains it reminds me to say a prayer for you. Remember that we love your family and love the blog. Give everyone hugs and kisses from us.

I found this article and thought you would enjoy it. Boy, it puts things in perspective!
We hope all is well with you and that you are adjusting to your new surroundings. It takes awhile to get used to a new environment. In time ,before you know it, you will forget how foreign everything felt when you first arrived in Texas. Remember, it takes awhile for roots to go down deep in the soil!
We love you.

Hmm, I tried to post and it didn't go through so I will try again!
We hope you are adjusting to your new environment. In time, the first few months of strangeness will become a distant memory as you settle in. Remember, it takes a while for roots to grow deep into the soil. We love you all very much. I found this article and thought you would enjoy it. It puts everything in perspective!

Love, Aunt Dalene
Sounds like you're doing good for only two weeks, girl! Took me 9 years to get used to things in Texas!!! Oh, we heard that Midland stake is notorious for driving long distances to various meeting and vting visits, etc. because the members are so spread out. Still that way? I'm sure your ward is soooo glad to have you move in! Is your new house in the same ward?
