Happy Birthday, Savannah!

Today we celebrate Savannah's 3rd birthday. She's been thinking she was three since we taught her how to hold up her middle three fingers a month ago. We had her Princess party on Saturday; after the party there was no telling her that she wasn't three until today. I'll post pictures of the party soon, I promise. She was able to play with some other cute little princesses. They decorated princess hats, played pin the fire on the dragon, princess and the pea and pass the frog. We even made a "castle" with a red carpet for them. I hope they had as much fun as I did planning it.

I also wanted to use this post to reminisce about Savannah, all the joy and chaos she's brought into our lives! She was born one day before her due date because I told my Dr. I'd bring pain into his life if he didn't induce me - it was the middle of summer and we were having a heat streak (nothing compared to normal West Texas weather, fyi). I had an extremely easy delivery from which Savannah arrived screaming, literally screaming from hunger. That was the first sign as to the personality of our new little baby girl. As a baby we would call her "beaker" from the Muppets because she squeaked and grunted all of the time. She sat at 4 months, crawled around 8 months and then refused to walk until the week of her first birthday. Her first word was cocoa, thanks to her daddy's addiction to chocolate. She loved to go and go and go until she crashed hard, always refusing to admit she was tired until she fell asleep a few seconds later.

We often quote these lines from a poem, "There was a little girl with a curl right in the middle of her forehead, and when she was good she was very, very good, and when she was bad she was horrid." These lines describe Savannah to a T. She's the best helper a mom could ask for, until she's ornery and then the whole household needs to watch out! Luckily she's not very often ornery. She's the polar opposite of Lincoln. Any book, toy, piece of furniture or clothing that was handed down from Lincoln to Savannah arrived in great condition and left broken, bruised and destroyed. Lincoln never once tried to climb out of his crib, she broke the crib jumping out it. Lincoln slept through the night at 6 weeks old, she went a year without making it all night. She's very active, very adventurous, very curious and very hard on household items. Still, there is nothing better than a great big Savannah hug/kiss, particularly if you're lucky enough to get eskimo kisses and butterfly kisses too.

Savannah is really smart. She can navigate the computer without any help and she's only fried one computer to the point of total ruin. She loves playing the game Purble Place and can open it and play it without any help. She's also mommy's best helper. She loves to throw away the diapers when I'm done changing the babies and loves to take the twins bottles to the sink after every feeding. She loves to dress up and wear makeup to play with her kitchen set (no, I don't put on diamonds and heels every day to make dinner, she learned this on her own!) She looks up to a lot of people, including her bigger brother, Lincoln. They are best friends for the majority of the time, the other 49% of the time they have to be kept in separate rooms...

I love you Savannah, happy birthday. I'm so glad that you came to our house three years ago!
