Back to School

It's finally Back to School time! Yeah!!! Why, you ask, am I so excited about this time of year? Because Lincoln has been wanting to go back to school since it let out on the 30th of May, that's why. He starts 3rd grade next Monday and can't wait to get back to school. Last year I thought he wanted to get back to school for the social aspect, since he'd had no friends over all summer long, but that's not the case this year - I think he just really likes school. Cool! Plus, now when Savannah asks to do homework it won't seem that weird considering school is in session.

I finally wised up and did Lincoln's school clothes shopping on-line this year. No fighting crowds in stores I'm unfamiliar with, no spending hours in line - I got it done in 15 minutes! I love the internet! (see previous post re: solving the rubix cube...) My mother-in-law took Lincoln school supply shopping yesterday, thankfully. I've never been quite so close to getting in a fist fight with anyone than two years ago at Walmart the day before school started, thus, I try to avoid school supply shopping at all costs as it brings back bad memories! Plus, as strict as Texas schools are about picking up/dropping off your kids at school, they are as strict about the supplies that your kids bring with them on the first day of school!

We are looking forward to a few days of respite before school starts on Monday. We're going to visit Clint and Karen in Dallas. Hopefully we'll have a good trip and they will still love us after we leave! We'll post pictures of Dallas when we return.

When you get a chance you should come see us in Houston, too! Maybe next summer we can meet at Sea World in San Antonio! Glad Lincoln likes school so much and you avoided another fist fight.

I know what you mean about the school shopping stuff! I went out and bought all of Skyler's stuff, only to realize a week later I went off of the wrong list! So there I was at Walmart last night at 10 pm trying to get the rest of what he needed and not very happy and the now sparse selection! I know I'll give the teacher a bad impression right off when she sees that two of his folders don't have the brads in the middle since apparently those are now extinct in all the stores! Grrr!
Hope you have a great trip though!

I could totally see you getting in a fight. You kind of have an edge, Brooke. I mean that in a nice way, really!

15 minutes? Please, you must share your secret. I HATE shopping because it's impossible with the little ones. My kids just might be seen wearing last year's winter clothing :) You're lucky to have such a scholar on your hands! Love ya all!

K, so to comment on my comments... School clothes shopping in 15 minutes is easy when you log onto Old Navy.com, click on sale/clearance and then put in the sizes of the clothes you're looking for. 2 pairs of pants, 1 pair of shorts, 6 shirts and $80 later you're done! I did it for Christmas last year too, it's great. $7 shipping and you can shop at Gap.com and bananarepublic.com at the same time.
Secondly, the Walmart aggression...thankfully I can control my temper well, but the lady really did deserve something, I promise. Thankfully(?) I had my kids with me and controlled myself beautifully. Don't push me if you don't want to be pushed back. It's the competitive nature in me, and the spoiled brat only child... :)
