School Days and Dallas

School started today and with the beginning of school comes the chaos. It's crazy that life can be so much more crazy with one less child at home. Lincoln is the glue that holds us all together. He's such a sweet kid, smart, helpful and patient with the little ones. He was really excited to start school; he is every year. He's smart and makes friends really easy. I hope that this year is as good as he's hoping it will be. He's also excited because soccer starts tomorrow and there is little he enjoys more in life than playing soccer. Hopefully he can assert himself and get everything done. Yeah!

We returned yesterday from visiting Clint, Karen, Lyndon and Charlotte in Dallas. I'll admit that the 5 hour drive was more than worth it. It was great to see them and it was great to be in a big city for a couple of days! It was shorter than we wanted, though it was probably long enough for them. They just moved into their house and probably were not quite ready to welcome 6 additional people into their home, but they were so hospitable and welcoming! We're a lot to take in all at the same time. Thankfully they have a 3 year old and a baby too, so they weren't taken too off guard, hopefully! I also hope they'll let us come back again soon, because I loved it there! (and Savannah has been asking to go back since we left their driveway).

We went to the zoo and enjoyed the hot and humid weather. I think we chickened out a little before Lincoln was done, but with 5 kids 3 and under it was a lot to deal with. Hopefully we can go again to see more of the zoo.

We also got to see the Dallas Temple and take some great pictures of the cousins and the temple. It's so beautiful in Dallas - so much greener and hillier than Midland. Seriously, it kind of took the homesickness away - right until the humidity screwed up my hair! :)

Yes, the babies are starting to sit up!! Of course, it's only for about 30 seconds at a time, but they're progressing! YEAH! Next on to my favorite stage of infancy - sitting and playing but not yet moving.

That is definitely the best time of infancy isn't it? :) Looks like you had a fun trip and the kids are all so darling -- those twins have a big Brookie stamp on them - especially Cael. Sooooo cute. Lincoln looks so big, too!

Cute pictures! Boo for humidity. I know how you feel.

Did you go to the Dallas or Ft. Worth Zoo? We're thinking of planning a trip there to visit some friends and wanted to check out the zoo, too.

We went to the Dallas Zoo. Unfortunately we weren't there long enough to see everything, but what we saw was great. There is also an aquarium right there with the zoo, I've heard it's worth the extra time and money, but again, we didn't do it. We'll do it next time though!

Brooke, I'm so glad you found us! It has been so long. I can't believe how big your kids look and wow...twins! You look great and your family is beautiful. Good luck in Texas and I'll peek in periodically to see how things are going, if you don't mind. ~Melissa

My favorite time of infancy too. Sitting up, playing on the blanket, smiling, giggling, trying to talk, it's all so cute and fun. I hate it when they can say no, and drag a mess all over the house. With two it should be double the fun!

Your babies are adorable (as well as your others! I am looking forward to the sitting up, playing, stage! Sounds like you had a great trip! I enjoyed the pics, especially of the temple! You look great and seem very happy. Isn't life crazy when you get kids in school, soccer, etc. I wouldn't have it any other way though!

I actually like cooking, too, but dinner is during "arsenic hour" as laura calls it. my girls go absolutely crazy and dinner has to be FAST. Also, I'm way too cheap to spend more than $50 a week on groceries. I wonder how I could get over that?
