Anyone who has lived in or visited Midland knows it's not really an outdoorsy sort of place. The grass is typically course and requires no less than long pants and body armor to lay down on. Though the weather is usually wonderful, we had two weeks of 100°+ weather in April, thus rendering any outdoor toy useless unless you like 2nd degree burns on any exposed skin. There are no water parks, or discovery parks, lakes or rivers close...at all. What we lack in entertainment, fun and personality, we make up for in nice people, no traffic and great deals on jalapenos...let me assure you.
Utah, however, is having a stellar year in outdoorsy wonderfulness. Not only have they had a very wet, rainy and sort of Seattle-ish Summer so far, but they already had a head start on bare-foot grass, lakes, rivers, streams, and playgrounds that are made for all ages of kids. Despite having all these things at our fingertips...or rather, at arm's length...the kids loved the times when we could just go out to Grandma's backyard and play. The grass was soft, the toys were fun and the company was unbeatable.
Savannah mastered riding a trike, the babies mastered the slide and Lincoln honed his soccer skills. Oh, and the weather? Hot, dry and Midland-like, I think we took it with us, because when Shane got back to Midland it rained. Nice.

Love your humorous perspective. It was so fun to get to see those cute kids in person! Lincoln and Savannah are getting so big and those twins are the cutest! Cael is a boy version of Brooke. It was nice to meet Shane's sister too and see your mom in her beautiful home. Glad you got back safe!
