Well, we survived the great camping trip of 2009. True, it only lasted 24 hours, but it'll go down in family record books as the first time we went camping with four kids...in Texas...in August.
First picture....proof that there is beauty and mountains in Texas...albeit nearly 3 hours from where we live...in the Davis Mountains.
Second collage is proof that we actually...
- set up a tent which included 6 sleeping bags, 1 queen size air mattress and two port-a-cribs
- saw wild animals including several deer, grasshoppers, toads and a skunk (sorry about the lack of a skunk picture, I didn't have any tomato juice on me...)
- played, ate and had a good time.

Yes, the playground and the fire were dangerous with two busy children running around, but they had fun and no one got hurt, sprayed, stung, bit or lost. Plus, the weather cooperated well. It was only in the high 90's when we left the campground the next morning to go see Fort Davis.
Whew, first year down...many more to come.

How exciting :) Maybe these pictures will help Scott realize the worth of camping BEFORE having kids...he doesn't want to his back to ache by sleeping on the ground. the big baby. ;)
You are a brave, brave soul!
