I was going to title this post "The Zoo" but then realized that our household is like a zoo every day and that I needed to clarify this was about an actual zoo. You know, one with animals that are stinky, furry, messy, smelly and eat a lot and that aren't human?
And where the 'animal keepers' get paid...with benefits.
Course, we gave the animals at Hogle Zoo quite the run for their money (or their feed). We were just as loud, ornery, stinky, and messy as any of them. Seriously, ask the orangatan, he was a little perturbed. The kids each ate as much as an elephant at lunch too.
Thankfully, I tried using the zoo as a learning/threatening tool with the kids. I told them if they ever acted like a monkey on my couches again they could live like one...
It backfired, they both agreed that somedays it would better. Something about not having to clean their rooms and eating off of the floor...
I'll spare you the videos of the train ride and the carousel rides. No one really wants to listen to two 17-month olds scream at the top of their lungs...seriously, no one. Ask the other zoo patrons, the evil looks thrown our way even kind of hurt my heart.

I am grateful I could go with Nicole. I am even more grateful that she was willing to push 40 pound Savannah around on her stroller built for 2 (well, 3). It was nice, for once, to see someone else pushing more weight around than I usually am. I am also grateful that we only lost one child for 5 minutes, it could've been much worse.
Let's see, what else am I grateful for?
I'm glad it was only 105° that day, with no rain or clouds in the sky...we could've gotten frostbite, that would have been tragic.
I'm also glad that the zoo is responsible enough to have hand sanitizer available for the kids after they touched an armadillo and a 20 foot ball python. The germs are the first danger on all minds when you're touching a deadly animal...
Gosh, I just can't wait for next year's trip...seriously, it was fun!

Best line, ever!
love the picture of you holding two screaming babies.
multiples are FUN. :)
I love the way you write! Never really thought of the comparison between the zoo and our households, but very, very true. So true. Mine are even furry. :)
Brooke, you are just too funny! The picture of you holding (wrestling) the babies looked so familiar. Twin babies are so much fun! Anyway, I am so entertained by all of your posts, you could write a book and make millions! Thanks for sharing all of your fun memories!
