Utah...part 6

You getting bored yet? Because I'm just getting started. I swear it was 3 whole weeks full of fun, friends, family reunions, and food. Settle in for another edition of Utah...the entertainment center of the Snow Family...

Episode 6: the "beach"

You see, before we left for Utah I asked each of the kids what they wanted to do while in Zion, I mean Utah. There responses were as follows:

Lincoln: see people, maybe go to the zoo, and if we can, I'd like to fish and camp.

Savannah: I want to go on a train and see the beach (because to a 3 yr. old the beach epitomizes vacation...)

Landry and Cael: didn't respond, too busy stuffing their faces full of crackers.

Which left me to plan three weeks full of activities. I made lists and more lists, did research, cost analysis', more research, and then presented the kids with a schedule. It was fantastic, amazing, and nothing that they'd ever see in Texas...sorry, I love it here but it's BORING!

Amidst the activities on the list was a day for me, SHOPPING at the Park City Outlets. It was a day that we didn't have Lincoln and therefore I didn't feel bad going shopping. Because we needed to pass by Deer Creek and Heber on the way I included two activities for the kids...the BEACH at Deer Creek and shakes at Granny's....mmmm!

Though I may rave about Utah in many ways, the "beach" is not something that Utah is known for. Obviously there is no ocean within 1000 miles of the state, and the lakes aren't typically the place to go hang out for a great day on smooth, white sand...particularly Utah Lake which looked eerily green while we were there. But I had promised Savannah a beach, and so we found one...a nice concrete boat ramp at Deer Creek's marina. It was everything she'd wanted and so much more! The babies loved the water, Savannah loved the beach, I loved the fact that the Ranger didn't charge us $6 to go down to the water for 15 minutes and I was able to check one more thing off of our list!

After we had our fill of water and delicious milk shakes we drove to the outlets for some retail therapy. Because I'm a softy we also had a little playground therapy for the kids, I mean the day couldn't be just for me, right? And for the second time in a day I had to pull Landry away from something that made her heart exceedingly glad; first the water, second the playground...what a terrible mother I am.

A couple of new outfits for the kids and a couple new shirts for me later...we were home and happy for yet another days adventures to come to a close.

Can I say it again, I am so jealous! Next time try Antelope Island for a beach. My sister took some fun family pics there and it looked like a nice beach. Of couse it is up north so you would have to plan it with your ogden things.

man, does that sound like a fun-filled 3 weeks. You really hit some fun places and it looks like your kids had plenty of fun.

Yeah. Utah doesn't have too many beaches. I think they have some down in Lake Powell but that was kind of far away.
